Leather Care

Leather Characteristics

You may have selected a leather covering for your new  furniture, and in this case, you can be assured that your product has been manufactured using genuine leather hide.

Leather owes its inherent beauty to variations in grain, texture, colour tones and other natural characteristics which contribute to the uniqueness of each upholstered leather piece. In time, leather will develop ‘comfort creases’, however, products are available to fill these creases to an extent.

Caring for your Leather

Regular Cleaning:

Do not allow dust to accumulate on the leather surface. Weekly, wipe dust off with a soft, damp cloth. When leather furniture requires a more thorough cleansing, spot-test your leather cleanser in the least obvious area before using it anywhere else on the furniture.

Periodically (3-4 times per year), clean, condition and protect the entire leather surface using an authorised leather care kit. Follow the instructions provided with the kit.

Stains and Spills:

Any spills must be removed immediately using a soft, non-abrasive damp cloth or absorbent paper, applying minimal pressure from the outside of the stain moving towards the centre. To clean further, use an authorised leather care kit. Follow the specific spot cleaning instructions provided with the kit.

Sunlight and Heat

Exposure to direct sunlight harms and fades leather over time. Keep leather pieces out of contact with direct sunlight. Also, allow a couple of feet between leather furniture and any direct heat source, such as a vent or a fireplace, which can quickly dry out the material.
